The competition is the first event of the year and the first step for athletes towards Paris 2024. In a statement released by USA Gymnastics, Douglas said that she is "disappointed" to withdraw from the Winter Cup competition, but she is "confident" that she made the right decision. "I want to thank my coaches and teammates for their support and understanding," Douglas said. "I am going to continue to train and work hard, but I am not sure if I will be able to make it back to the Olympics. I am going to take some time to rest and recover, and then I will decide what my next steps will be."
