Jeremie Frimpong stars as Netherlands thrash Canada
The Netherlands netted three times in 13 second-half minutes as they secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Canada in their international friendly on Wednesday.
Jeremie Frimpong was the star of the show for the Dutch, scoring one goal and laying on another. The Netherlands took the lead in the 64th minute when Frimpong played a perfectly-weighted pass into the path of Steven Bergwijn, who slotted home from close range.
Frimpong then got on the scoresheet himself just two minutes later, firing a low shot into the bottom corner of the net after being played through by Arnaut Danjuma. The Netherlands continued to pour forward in search of more goals, and they were rewarded for their pressure when Memphis Depay made it 3-0 in the 77th minute, with Danjuma adding a fourth in the 90th minute.
The victory was a confidence-boosting one for the Netherlands, who are preparing for the upcoming UEFA Nations League finals. Canada, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their performance, but they will have the chance to bounce back when they face Uruguay in their next friendly on Sunday.
